Trip Report: The Nare

Updated: Jul 2, 2021

The Nare

The Nare truly is as described, a country house hotel by the sea. Located a scenic four hour train ride from London, or a quick one hour flight, this is the perfect warm weather destination for hitting the beach or exploring the famous gardens in the area.

In the winter months, The Nare is a quiet and relaxing place to rest and recharge. During this season some guests enjoying visiting when they know a large storm will be coming in from the Atlantic; an activity appropriately called storm watching. Cozy up in front of one of the many fireplaces with a good book and a glass of wine and be awed by the power of Mother Nature.

I stayed in February and I loved that during turndown service they put an old-fashioned hot water bottle in your bed. It was so cozy to crawl into a warm bed every evening. This small detail is reflective of the kind of hotel that The Nare is – charming, approachable, and exuding a relaxed casual elegance. Many of the guests here are repeat, some coming several times a year. Everyone feels like family from the moment they arrive, and that homey yet elegant service and atmosphere continues throughout your stay.

Cornwall is one of the most beautiful parts of England, and the climate is temperate enough for palm trees. We visited numerous sites, including Lanhydrock House, Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Caerhays Castle. It’s also a wonderful place to simply explore as you drive among the hedgerows past picturesque villages and gorgeous views of the sea.

A very special thanks to Toby and the entire staff at The Nare for their warm hospitality. Thank you also to Rebecca Recommends for giving me the opportunity to visit Cornwall.

I would love to help you plan a week touring the gorgeous gardens of Cornwall. Or perhaps you would prefer to visit London for an extended weekend city break, and then spend several days at the beach at The Nare.

It’s time to start making memories. Contact us today for assistance with planning the perfect Cornwall itinerary for you.
