Ritz-Carlton Cancun

Ritz-Carlton Cancun

During my time in Cancun I decided to pop over to the Ritz-Carlton to see their new room product. We stayed at the hotel last November for Thanksgiving, but they had just started the renovations and all of the renovated rooms were occupied, so I had not yet seen the updates.

The renovations are gorgeous! The rooms had always been extremely well-maintained and spotlessly cleaned, but they used to be quite dated and very traditional. They now have a fresh modern “beachy” feel. Love!

They also have purchased some new lounge chairs and all new lounge chair cushions. You can now be confident that you can rest comfortably by the pool or beach all day long!

Your complimentary Virtuoso amenities are as follows:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
  • Daily Buffet breakfast, for up to two in room guests
  • $100 USD Resort or Hotel credit, to be utilized during stay
    • (not combinable, not valid on room rate, alcohol, or third party services, no cash value if not redeemed in full, not validon taxes, service charges or third party services.)
  • Early check-in/late check-out (subject to availability)

Trip Report: NIZUC Resort & Spa – 2014

NIZUC View from Room

NIZUC View from Room

I flew down to ILTM Americas a couple of nights early in order to squeeze in a little rest and relaxation. I wanted to be close to the airport in order to maximize the amount of time I could spend at the pool. So of course I decided to stay at NIZUC!

Since my last stay at the hotel in April 2013, which was shortly after their opening, they have completed the spa, fitness center, the Italian restaurant Terra Nostra, the tennis courts, and all of the rooms. Luckily, they did not change the amazing service! It was just as impeccable this time as last, even though occupancy was much higher for this stay.

I still love the service, and the huge infinity pool. Terra Nostra is a great addition to their international cuisine restaurant offerings. I especially appreciated all of the vegetarian options between the salads, pastas and pizzas.

The dining options here are wonderful. You will definitely not get bored eating at NIZUC during a seven night stay. The food is very high quality, and they do have an all-inclusive plan called Endless Indulgence. If you are a foodie, or just like to enjoy quality food and drinks while on vacation you will feel that the AI plan is worth every penny (or peso).

Don’t forget that as a preferred partner of NIZUC, my clients receive the following complimentary amenities:

  • One Way Private transfer from the Airport to the Hotel – Luxury Van
  • Room upgrade to the next category upon check in, if available
  • Complimentary Breakfast Buffet for two adults when booking European Plan
  • One access to Thermal Experience per stay for 2 adults.
  • Welcome amenity in their room on arrival day: Tequila Bottle and Dry Fruit

Trip Report: The Yucatan from Cancun to Merida

Can you hear the Yucatan calling? I recently returned from a trip to Mexico where I attended the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Americas conference which was held at the Fairmont Mayakoba where I stayed for four nights in a Deluxe Casita Room (photo tour below).

In addition to making some wonderful contacts for my clients and strengthening existing relationships with suppliers, I was fortunate to be able to take a couple of side trips. I flew into Cancun and spent two nights at NIZUC. I had not been since shortly after they opened and I wanted to experience the resort now that it is fully operational.

I also popped over to the Ritz-Carlton Cancun to check on their new room product. It is absolutely gorgeous, and a huge improvement over the formerly more traditional decor. The property is always impeccably maintained, but the decor just didn’t say beach resort. I was thrilled to see that they also have new lounge cushions on their pool chairs.

After ILTM Americas concluded I was thrilled to have been selected to go on a post-conference trip with Catherwood Travels. Many thanks to everyone who made the trip amazing, especially our guide Julia! We visited the Mayan ruins at Ek Balam, had an outstanding “picnic” lunch and swim at their private cenote Xchen, visited the beautiful golden city of Izamal, had a quick tour in Merida, and stayed in two of the Starwood Luxury Collection Haciendas, among many other fun experiences!

Lunch at cenote Xchen

I am more convinced than ever that the Yucatan is the prefect destination for people who are looking for both beach and culture. There is truly something for everyone. Plus, with numerous nonstop flights from all over the United States it is easy to get to, and offers some of the cheapest airfare to any warm weather destination.

Stay tuned for additional posts and photo tours of my experience in the Yucatan!
