Trip Report: The Ritz-Carlton Resorts of Puerto Rico

Updated: Jun 27, 2021

Puerto Rico is a great beach destination, especially for people in the Boston and New York areas, due to a large number of inexpensive and quick nonstop flights. The opening of Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve prompted me to take a Ritz-Carlton tour of Puerto Rico.

Dorado Beach is an absolutely spectacular property with 115 rooms set on 50 acres of land that is located about 30 to 45 minutes west of the San Juan airport. We stayed for two nights in a gorgeous Plunge Reserve room that was situated steps from the beach. I would recommend this property for honeymooners or those looking for a relaxing nature infused getaway.

The Ritz-Carlton San Juan feels like more of an urban property than Dorado Beach. It offers 416 guest rooms on five acres of lively beachfront that is located approximately 15 minutes from the San Juan airport. We stayed for two nights in a Pool View room. I would recommend this property for girls / guys getaways or families with young children who are looking for an easy beach vacation. Of course, it’s also a great location to overnight before or after a cruise.

As a Ritz-Carlton STARS advisor we have access to VIP amenities and special offers at both properties. Contact us today to book your next Puerto Rico vacation!

Note: I received a reduced rate for travel advisors at both properties.
