I was standing on a corner in Guanajuato, Mexico looking at my phone while waiting to cross the street, when I received an email invitation to experience Curtain Buff. Without giving it a second though, I immediately replied that of course I would love to go.

I had been to Antigua five years previously (see Jumby Bay and Hermitage Bay), and it had remained one of my all-time favorite Caribbean islands for having a great vibe, lots of luxury resorts, and such friendly people.

Curtain Bluff has recently undergone a significant renovation and everything feels light, bright, and airy. If you love the ocean, you will especially love that there are no garden view rooms here. Every room is right on the ocean; some are beachfront, while others are oceanfront.

Another great feature of Curtain Bluff is that the resort is an all-inclusive. Let me rephrase that, a luxury all-inclusive. No watered down drinks. No bargain basement wines. No cutting corners. Plus, all of your motorized watersports are also included.

One of our favorite activities in the late afternoon was a glass of rosé while bobbing around in the bay on rafts. Delightful!

  2. Daily full breakfast, for up to two in room guests served in the restaurant or room service

  3. $100 USD Equivalent Resort or Hotel credit, to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)

  4. Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability

  5. Complimentary Wi-Fi

Perhaps the best thing about Curtain Bluff is it’s history and people. It is a family owned and operated hotel, and has been since it’s inception in 1962. In fact the owner, Chelle, still lives on property and invites guests to her home once a week for a cocktail reception. Many employees count their years at Curtain Bluff in decades.

This is why so many guests return year after year. Any resort can have fancy rooms and and a celebrity chef, but not every resort can become part of your family.
