After my four night stay at the Four Seasons Punta Mita, I took a short taxi ride to the St. Regis Punta Mita to round out my week long vacation. The view upon arrival is a wow. I stayed three nights in a Deluxe Guest Room – Ocean View. The room felt fresh and bright, and I loved having an outdoor shower and a walk-in closet. Two hotel features that can make or break a room for me while on a beach vacation. The St. Regis Punta Mita is a great resort for couples or trips with
While I love the white sand beaches and blue water of the Caribbean side of Mexico, I had forgotten about the joy of watching the sun set over the ocean. What a treat! The Four Seasons is located about 45 minutes or so from the Puerto Vallarta airport. Transfers are easy and we are happy to arrange them for you either through the hotel concierge, or one of our other service providers. I stayed for four nights in a Casita Room – Ocean View. My room was spacious and I enjoyed b
I chose to visit the three major resorts in Guanacaste: The Four Seasons, The Andaz, and El Mangroove. I selected these resorts because our clients receive exclusive VIP perks and complimentary amenities at all of them. I landed in Liberia (LIR) after dark and was quickly whisked away by a representative from the Four Seasons to a fully loaded SUV for the forty minute drive to the resort. Upon arrival I was given a small coconut welcome drink and taken to my room. I awoke to
Curtain Bluff Resort I was standing on a corner in Guanajuato, Mexico looking at my phone while waiting to cross the street, when I received an email invitation to experience Curtain Buff. Without giving it a second though, I immediately replied that of course I would love to go. I had been to Antigua five years previously (see Jumby Bay and Hermitage Bay), and it had remained one of my all-time favorite Caribbean islands for having a great vibe, lots of luxury resorts, and s
Jade Mountain On approach into Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in St. Lucia I realized, that the Caribbean of my mind’s eye existed in a giddiness-inducing reality. The gorgeous Pitons rising straight from the depths of the ocean made me feel that perhaps I had in fact flown to a much more far-flung destination, like Phi Phi Island, when in fact I was mere four hours and forty minutes nonstop flying time from Boston. The Pitons on approach to UVF After about a thirty mi
The Brando There are some hotels that tug at your heartstrings from the very first photo. I knew from the moment that I was introduced to The Brando that I was destined to stay there. Lucky for me, my 10th Wedding Anniversary presented the perfect opportunity. We arrived into Fa’a’a airport from our stay in Bora Bora at the St. Regis and Four Seasons. After collecting our luggage we made our way to the Air Tetiaroa terminal. Aie Tetiaroa has their own private terminal and the
St. Regis Bora Bora Four Seasons Bora Bora There are certain destinations blessed with a luxury hotel conundrum, and Bora Bora is one of those places. Clients always want to know which hotel is the best, and the St. Regis and Four Seasons are at the tops of everyone’s list. I knew as soon as I had secured my Air Tahiti Business Class award flights that I would stay at both properties, and settle the debate once and for all. Which hotel is better? Billionaire’s Pool at The Brando On a whim I decided to set up an alert in May 2016 for two business class tickets on Air Tahiti Nui for multiple dates surrounding our 10th Wedding Anniversary in August 2016. Imagine my surprise one night about one week later when two seats popped up as available. I knew this trip must be meant to be, so I grabbed the seats, handed over an obscene number of AAdvantage miles (320,000) and started piecing the rest of the trip together. Champag
Despite having lived in Massachusetts for over a decade, I had never visited either of the most luxurious resorts on Cape Cod, Chatham Bars Inn and the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to stay for two nights at the former, and one night at the latter. The weather was quite chilly during my trip in early June. You can expect the summer temperatures to be around 10 degrees lower than what is forecast in Boston, and vice versa in the winter.
I had such an amazing time in the fall with Catherwood Travels that I decided to tack on a mini-trip before our scheduled vacation so that my husband could have a similar experience. Plus, Chichen Itza is something that he has always wanted to see. After much debate we decided to fly roundtrip into Cancun. It would have been more convenient and more fun to start in Merida, but it just wasn’t worth it to deal with having two one way tickets, or worse yet, having a two stop iti
These are my picks for the top five hot new beach hotels for 2015. 1. Condado Vanderbilt What is not to love about a former grand dame of a hotel that has been lovingly and completely restored? Oh, and it’s super easy to get to from the Northeast. Did I mention no passport required? Perfect for long weekend getaways or week long vacations. A great location in San Juan for exploring or doing nothing at all. http://www.condadovanderbilt.com/default-en.html 2. Rosewood at Baha M
For our annual pre-winter beach vacation, and my husband’s birthday, we decided to spend a week at Rosewood Little Dix Bay. Located in the British Virgin Islands on Virgin Gorda, Little Dix Bay truly is a timeless Caribbean retreat. Originally a Rockefeller Resort opened in 1964, it is located on a gorgeous half mile crescent shaped bay. Many guests have been coming every year for decades. The rooms have been recently renovated and run the span from the traditional Tree House
I stayed four nights at the Fairmont Mayakoba during the ILTM Americas conference. During this time, the resort was only occupied by people associated with the conference. During my time in Cancun I decided to pop over to the Ritz-Carlton to see their new room product. We stayed at the hotel last November for Thanksgiving, but they had just started the renovations and all of the renovated rooms were occupied, so I had not yet seen the updates. The renovations are gorgeous! The rooms had always been extremely well-maintained and spotlessly cleaned, but they used to be quite dated and very traditional. They now have a fresh modern “beachy” feel.
I flew down to ILTM Americas a couple of nights early in order to squeeze in a little rest and relaxation. I wanted to be close to the airport in order to maximize the amount of time I could spend at the pool. So of course I decided to stay at NIZUC! Since my last stay at the hotel in April 2013, which was shortly after their opening, they have completed the spa, fitness center, the Italian restaurant Terra Nostra, the tennis courts, and all of the rooms. Luckily, they did no
Can you hear the Yucatan calling? I recently returned from a trip to Mexico where I attended the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Americas conference which was held at the Fairmont Mayakoba where I stayed for four nights in a Deluxe Casita Room (photo tour below).

Set on the white sands of Nassau’s Cable Beach and just twelve minutes from Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), Rosewood at Baha Mar is a destination unto itself. Accepting reservations for May 1, 2015 and beyond, the enclave of Baha Mar will offer a casino, an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course and a full array of leisure amenities. Our second visit to Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa was every bit as good as the first. Perhaps even better. This time we stayed in an Oceanview Room on the far south end of the resort. It faced a beautiful pool and was near the gym and water sports facilities. Our room was clean and cool, which are my two main requirements when on a beach vacation. I love the white stuccos walls, thatched palapa roofs, and handmade Mexican tiles. It is the perfect antithesis to the 500 room all-
The Nare truly is as described, a country house hotel by the sea. Located a scenic four hour train ride from London, or a quick one hour flight, this is the perfect warm weather destination for hitting the beach or exploring the famous gardens in the area. In the winter months, The Nare is a quiet and relaxing place to rest and recharge. During this season some guests enjoying visiting when they know a large storm will be coming in from the Atlantic; an activity appropriately
