After my four night stay at the Four Seasons Punta Mita, I took a short taxi ride to the St. Regis Punta Mita to round out my week long vacation. The view upon arrival is a wow. I stayed three nights in a Deluxe Guest Room – Ocean View. The room felt fresh and bright, and I loved having an outdoor shower and a walk-in closet. Two hotel features that can make or break a room for me while on a beach vacation. The St. Regis Punta Mita is a great resort for couples or trips with
Grand Hotel Tremezzo – Lake Como When Italy calls, it’s a good idea to answer. I was thrilled to have been invited to go to Italy on a trip with IDI and Virtuoso for eight nights in October. I stayed in four different hotels, and did site inspections at an additional six hotels. The trip started in Lake Como with a two night stay at Villa d’Este. It has a great location on the lake for sightseeing, and is perfect for lazing away an afternoon while soaking in the views with a
I chose to visit the three major resorts in Guanacaste: The Four Seasons, The Andaz, and El Mangroove. I selected these resorts because our clients receive exclusive VIP perks and complimentary amenities at all of them. I landed in Liberia (LIR) after dark and was quickly whisked away by a representative from the Four Seasons to a fully loaded SUV for the forty minute drive to the resort. Upon arrival I was given a small coconut welcome drink and taken to my room. I awoke to
Curtain Bluff Resort I was standing on a corner in Guanajuato, Mexico looking at my phone while waiting to cross the street, when I received an email invitation to experience Curtain Buff. Without giving it a second though, I immediately replied that of course I would love to go. I had been to Antigua five years previously (see Jumby Bay and Hermitage Bay), and it had remained one of my all-time favorite Caribbean islands for having a great vibe, lots of luxury resorts, and s
Christmas Market in Heidelberg I am not known as being fond of cold weather (and I can be a bit “bah humbug” about Christmas), but I had only heard wonderful things about the Christmas Markets in Germany, so when I received an invitation to go for a week in December I knew I had to say yes. My trip started with a short jet-lag recovery stay at Villa Kennedy, a Rocco Forte Hotel in Frankfurt. It’s a quick seven mile ride from the airport, and my room was perfect for catching u
Chablé Resort and Spa I almost don’t want to tell you anything about Chablé Resort and Spa. I certainly don’t want to let you know how absolutely amazing it is, because I don’t want it to be entirely sold out for my next stay. And there will definitely be a next stay. Trust me, you will feel the same when you go. This part of Mexico holds a special place in my heart. This was my second time flying into Mérida, my fourth hacienda hotel stay in the Yucatán, and my fourth visit
Our Ride to the Cenote Our Yucatan adventure started a few weeks before our departure when it came to my attention that American Airlines still did not have approval to fly to Merida. Luckily, even though it was a prime holiday travel week I was able to find two seats in Business Class on AeroMexico. This was my third trip to the interior of the Yucatan, and my primary goal was to see Uxmal. The other goal was to stay in one hotel for the duration of the trip, so we booked th
The Brando There are some hotels that tug at your heartstrings from the very first photo. I knew from the moment that I was introduced to The Brando that I was destined to stay there. Lucky for me, my 10th Wedding Anniversary presented the perfect opportunity. We arrived into Fa’a’a airport from our stay in Bora Bora at the St. Regis and Four Seasons. After collecting our luggage we made our way to the Air Tetiaroa terminal. Aie Tetiaroa has their own private terminal and the
US Airways 718 PHL-FCO Business Class In October 2015 I went on a whirlwind nine day trip to experience some of the best of Florence, Tuscany, and Rome with one of my favorite Virtuoso on-sites, Italian Dream Incorporated Travel (IDI). I found a great deal on Business Class tickets to Rome, so I set aside my general aversion to flying out of my way and booked the tickets from Boston via Philadelphia. Technically, I was starting my trip in Florence, but when I looked at the fl
Flight Approach to Aspen After a long and grueling week of work in Las Vegas I was eagerly anticipating a brief mountain respite in Aspen. This was my first visit to this quaint mountain town, and I was immediately impressed. In my mind I saw the Aspen of celebrities in white ski suits and boots trimmed in fur, but what I found was a laid back summer destination with great outdoor activities, shopping, and dining. I stayed at the Limelight Hotel in a Grand Deluxe Hotel room.

We decided to take advantage of the 4th of July holiday and head to Las Vegas for a little rest and relaxation. That may seem like an oxymoron, but it is entirely possible to find solitude in Sin City at the Four Seasons Las Vegas. Since we were going to be there during a holiday weekend and the pool would presumably be very busy, we decided to rent one of their new cabanas for our own personal 4th of July celebration. We selected Cabana 3 for it’s location nearest to the poo
If you are looking to be wowed by your hotel in Buenos Aires, then look no further than the Faena Hotel. This was the fourth and final hotel in my week long tour of Buenos Aires. The hotel is located in the hot new neighborhood of Porto Madero, near great dining, parks, and the marina. The interior design was done by Philippe Starck and the hotel reflects his unmistakable modern playful touch. I stayed for two nights in a Skyline View Room. The layout was unique with the bed
Despite having lived in Massachusetts for over a decade, I had never visited either of the most luxurious resorts on Cape Cod, Chatham Bars Inn and the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to stay for two nights at the former, and one night at the latter. The weather was quite chilly during my trip in early June. You can expect the summer temperatures to be around 10 degrees lower than what is forecast in Boston, and vice versa in the winter.
I had such an amazing time in the fall with Catherwood Travels that I decided to tack on a mini-trip before our scheduled vacation so that my husband could have a similar experience. Plus, Chichen Itza is something that he has always wanted to see. After much debate we decided to fly roundtrip into Cancun. It would have been more convenient and more fun to start in Merida, but it just wasn’t worth it to deal with having two one way tickets, or worse yet, having a two stop iti

My trip to Tennessee got off to a snowy start in Boston, but we only experienced a short delay. I had planned this getaway purposefully as an extra long weekend escape from the winter weather and a cure for my cabin fever. Thankfully, the weather in Tennessee did not disappoint. Not a flake of snow to be seen, and weekend highs in the low 60’s. The first three nights of my stay in Nashville were spent at the Hutton Hotel. I chose this property because it best aligned with typ
These are my picks for the top five hot new beach hotels for 2015. 1. Condado Vanderbilt What is not to love about a former grand dame of a hotel that has been lovingly and completely restored? Oh, and it’s super easy to get to from the Northeast. Did I mention no passport required? Perfect for long weekend getaways or week long vacations. A great location in San Juan for exploring or doing nothing at all. http://www.condadovanderbilt.com/default-en.html 2. Rosewood at Baha M
I stayed four nights at the Fairmont Mayakoba during the ILTM Americas conference. During this time, the resort was only occupied by people associated with the conference. The complimentary Virtuoso amenities are as follows: Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability Daily Buffet breakfast, for up to two in room guests $100 USD Resort or Hotel credit, to be utilized during stay * Early check-in/late check-out subject to availability *Further restrictions for $100 Resort Cred
During my time in Cancun I decided to pop over to the Ritz-Carlton to see their new room product. We stayed at the hotel last November for Thanksgiving, but they had just started the renovations and all of the renovated rooms were occupied, so I had not yet seen the updates. The renovations are gorgeous! The rooms had always been extremely well-maintained and spotlessly cleaned, but they used to be quite dated and very traditional. They now have a fresh modern “beachy” feel.
