After a long and grueling week of work in Las Vegas I was eagerly anticipating a brief mountain respite in Aspen. This was my first visit to this quaint mountain town, and I was immediately impressed. In my mind I saw the Aspen of celebrities in white ski suits and boots trimmed in fur, but what I found was a laid back summer destination with great outdoor activities, shopping, and dining.

I stayed at the Limelight Hotel in a Grand Deluxe Hotel room.

The Limelight Hotel is centrally located and walking distance to all that Aspen has to offer. The rooms are decorated in a contemporary decor and come full appointed with thoughtful amenities like a kitchenette stocked with Keurig pods for coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

I loved it’s young vibe and laid back atmosphere. It feels comfortable and inviting; luxurious, but not precious. A space that you are happy to come back to at the end of a fun day in the mountains. There will likely be celebrities in residence during your stay, but it’s the kind of place where you wouldn’t even notice.

In the evenings, the hotel is popular with guests and locals alike for its live music and wood-fired oven cuisine.

A ride on the Silver Queen Gondola to the top of Aspen Mountain is an absolute must. The views are gorgeous and you can have lunch at the top.

Weather changes quickly, so make sure to dress in layers keeping in mind that it is cooler at the top. Also, wear sunscreen as the sun is more powerful at higher elevations.

I also visited a number of hotels while in Aspen, including The Little Knell (Virtuoso), Residences at The Little Knell, The St. Regis Aspen Resort (Virtuoso), and The Hotel Jerome (Virtuoso).

My stay was short, but I left longing for my next trip to Aspen. I highly recommend it as a summer destination.
