Trip Report: Alvear Palace Hotel

Every major world city has at least one iconic hotel, and in Buenos Aires that hotel is the Alvear Palace, located in the upscale Recoleta neighborhood.
I arrived for my two night stay via a taxi in the early afternoon and was warmly greeted by the bellman and escorted into the hotel for check in. There was a slight mix up with my arrival date, but it was quickly remedied and I was offered access to my room, a Deluxe Suite.
My suite was very large with a formal living room, a small office, a bedroom, a full bath with Hermes amenities, and two closets (a large walk in off of the bedroom, and a smaller closet in the living room). The decor is very traditional and done in keeping with the spirit of a true palace hotel. Although it is not my personal preference for decor, the layout worked well and the furnishing were clean and comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was the best of the four properties that I stayed at during my week in Buenos Aires. Lots of fresh fruit, gorgeous homemade pastries, hot items, and plenty of silver service. However, my favorite item on the buffet was the honeycomb.

My three takeaways about the Alvear Palace Hotel:
Fabulous:
If excellent service is the most important priority for your hotel stay in Buenos Aires, then you will absolutely love the Alvear Palace.
Faux Pas:
No coffee or tea making facilities in the room.
FYI:
The hotel is an easy walk to Recoleta Cemetery.
