Trip Report: NIZUC Resort & Spa – 2013

Are you looking for a luxury beach getaway that is easy to get to, but far away from everything? NIZUC Resort & Spa is about 15 minutes from the Cancun airport and about 15 minutes from the hotel strip, but it is worlds away from the hustle and bustle. It is located on Punta Nizuc on land that once housed Mexico’s Presidential retreat. The original concept and design of the resort was created by Aman Resorts and the Asian influence can be seen in the art and architecture. The original vision has been enhanced and refined by the Las Brisas Hotel Group who opened the property to the first guests in March 2013.

I was lucky to have the opportunity to stay at the resort for five nights as part of a birthday celebration with my husband. We selected the all inclusive option, called Endless Indulgence. Yes, it was indulgent! We had excellent meals from all of the restaurants, including room service. Despite the fact that occupancy was low during this soft opening, all of the restaurants except one were open and fully functional. The food and drinks are top notch, and there was no skimping on ingredients.

The staff were absolutely spectacular. I cannot compliment them enough. Special thanks to Georgina, Mariana, Hector, Gabriel, Julio, Pepe, and Marcos. My apologies to those whose names I have neglected because everyone we encountered was knowledgeable, warm, and friendly. I don’t know who is in charge of hiring at the resort, but they deserve kudos.

One caveat is that the resort is still under construction. The spa is not yet complete, but you can have treatments done in your room. The gym is also not yet finished, but they will take you to a neighboring resort for your workout at no charge. There is also really only one type of room available. We didn’t find any of this to be an issue. See for yourself in my photo tour below.
