Trip Report: The Ritz-Carlton Cancun

Updated: Jun 26, 2021

This is the first post in a three part series on my recent twelve day trip to Mexico. I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Cancun, Grand Velas Riviera Maya, and the Rosewood Mayakoba. I also did a site inspection of the Fairmont Mayakoba.

The first four nights of my trip were spent with two friends at the Ritz-Carlton Cancun. What a fabulous experience! This was my third stay at the hotel in the past four years. The service, food, and amenities have been consistently great during every stay. The beach has been restored since my last visit and it is amazing. I felt very thankful for the opportunity to spend my Thanksgiving at this wonderful resort.

Rooms:

We stayed in an Ocean View Suite. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It has one full bath with a separate tub and shower off of the bedroom, and a half bath off of the living room. These suites all come with a king bed and the sofa does not fold out. Therefore, we had to request a rollaway. Luckily the rollaway is a real bed (twin mattress) on a rolling platform that does not fold in half. It was very comfortable. Restaurant/Lobby:

The lobby and all public spaces were beautifully decorated for Christmas.

All of our meals at the hotel were excellent. The buffet breakfast is not to be missed, and is included for two people as a part of your Virtuoso amenity package. We also greatly enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner buffet. The food was delicious and offered all of the trimmings that you would expect.

Gym/Spa:

We all went to the spa and for the Signature Kayanta Massage. Heavenly! The spa area is somewhat small, but the amenities are great. Definitely go early to your appointment so that you can enjoy the outside hot and cold pools. Also, the jetted shower after your appointment is an absolute must.

Overall:

The Ritz-Carlton Cancun offers a consistently wonderful experience year after year. The beach restoration offers guests even more room to spread out and enjoy the sun and sand. I would recommend it for anyone from couples to families who are looking to get away somewhere warm with great food and fabulous service.
