I could not have been more thrilled when I received the invitation from Janine Cifelli Representation to spend four nights in Buenos Aires with Alvear Hotels, plus touring provided by Abercrombie & Kent.
Clients have been increasingly interested in the destination as an easy to get to location with virtually zero jet lag and a great currency conversion. Additionally, my love for Mexico has recently had me pining to explore even further south into Central and South America. I have an amazing two week trip to Peru on the books for this fall, so this opportunity was the perfect compliment to expand my Latin America expertise.

Of course, my first question was what should I do about the flights? In looking at pricing, routes, and premium cabin costs I decided to go with American. I don’t like to fly through New York (JFK) if I can avoid it, and although the Dreamliner was extremely enticing, Dallas (DFW) just seemed a little too far out of the way for a connection. My final choice was the new 777-200 Retrofit Business Class cabin roundtrip from Miami (MIA) to Buenos Aires (EZE).

The flight was enjoyable and went quickly despite the nine hour flying time. For dinner I pre-reserved the Spinach Ravioli and selected ice cream as my desert. I though the cabin was way too hot, especially for the thick duvets, but I managed to sleep for four or five hours.

During my seven night stay in Buenos Aires I stayed in four hotels which I will review in separate trip reports. The hotel names will link to the trip reports when complete.
I also visited the Park Hyatt and La Aguada.
Stay tuned for more insight into the fabulous city known as the Paris of South America!
